The Best Web 2.0 Applications For Education — 2009 | Larry Ferlazzo's Websites of the Day...
I need to look at these more closely.
Weblogg-ed Will Richardson's Blog
I have had the chance to hear Will speak a couple of times recently. I always come away thinking about new ideas and wondering just how he knows so much. In this case, the clamor about Obama's speech to children has become deafening. Will offers some excellent food for thought in this entry. I recommend his blog as one to follow, particularly for Upper School humanities teachers.
DIGITAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS: Tools and Technologies for Effective Classrooms
nice description of why we need to use tech to create active learning.
MICDS Summer Teacher Institute - Will Richardson Writing in a Digital World
I wonder if a collaborative group of schools could schedule something similar next summer in NC?
PRINCIPAL VOICES ~ Ken Robinson ~ White Paper
Creativity in the Classroom, Innovation in the Workplace is an article written by Sir Ken Robinson (Do Schools Kill Creativity, The Element). I particularly enjoyed reading Will Richardson's comments (public via Diigo). What do schools do to foster creativity in their employees (ie-teachers, administrators, staff, etc)?

Wolfram MathWorld: The Web's Most Extensive Mathematics Resource
With all the talk about Wolfram, this might be worth another look if you haven't been lately. There's an interactive component on the lower right side.

Digital Classroom Benchmarks for Teachers
Demetri Orlando owned, collaboratively built benchmarks for teachers in digital rich classrooms. I like this better than the integration matrix I've been using, and I like that a lot.

Scribble Maps - Create custom google maps with scribblings and more!
Draw on a map. Not sure how I'd use it.
McKinsey & Company - Social Sector - The Economic Impact of the Achievement Gap on America’s Schools
People are grabbing this report to say all kinds of things about race, teaching, achievement, etc. What the report effectively points out is that there are huge gaps in educational achievement--some between racial groups, some between classrooms in the same school, cities and states, etc. Question for anyone in education: are we analyzing those gaps to figure out what is working better for kids?
I'm not so interested in the economic analysis (the "cost" of these gaps), but I'm sure others are.
ClassTools.net: Create interactive flash tools / games for education
This is fun--it's a little tricky to navigate, but I had a good time making a Venn Diagram. An interesting use might be to try having older kids make something with/for younger students.
