- I think it's already gone, and has been for a while, with journalists documenting it regularly. I recall reading that the one-company career was over when I was searching for my first job--in 1989! - on 2009-05-17

Emerging Trend: Collaborative Curve | Ecology of Education
I think there is more research already in the are of the effect of collaboration on learning. Still, this is a very accessible post and the author makes some nice analogies from WOW to hunter-gatherer communities.

Teacher Collaboration (CenterFocus No. 2)
This is not all that recent--pub date is 1993, research is from the 80's. However, the points are as germane as ever. Meeting is not collaborating! Teachers need to move out of their classrooms and into collegial relationships with each other, for students sakes and for themselves.
-
current major educational reforms call for
extensive, meaningful teacher collaboration. -
collegiality breaks the isolation of the classroom and
brings career rewards and daily satisfactions. It avoids end-of-year
burn-out and stimulates enthusiasm. Instead of grasping for the single
dramatic event or the special achievements of a few children as the
main source of pride, teachers are more able to detect and celebrate a
pattern of accomplishments within and across classrooms (Little, 1987,
p. 497). - 9 more annotations...
Libraries & EdTech: Like Peanut Butter and Jelly! | always learning
Kim Cofino writes this blog. Her job title is 21st Century Literacy Specialist at the International School Bangkok in Thailand. I've been a fan of hers for a while--this post is one that she reminded me of on my blog post titled "Meeting is not collaborating." Kim's writing is strong and enjoyable to read--she's a good example of the slope of journalism Clay Shirky discusses.
