How often does Evap monitor run? - Toyota Forums :: Toyota Nation
-
Evaporative Monitor:
Pre-requisite: No codes present, fuel level between 50 and 75%, IAT and ECT between 40 and 95 degrees F, altitude below 7801 ft, 8-hour cold soak
- Release pressure in fuel tank by removing and replacing gas cap before start up
- Idle engine until ECT is 167 degrees F or more
- Raise engine speed to 3000 rpm for 10 sec.
- Idle engine with AC on for 15-50 minutes (if no AC, turn on rear defroster and headlamps).
I believe these are the necessary conditions for my evap monitor to run. This morning, having read the above, and having met the pre-requisite conditions, I removed and replaced the cap, (no pressure was present) then started the car and drove about 2 miles to the local McDonalds. While waiting in line at the drive-up idling in drive for maybe five minutes total, I put the car in neutral and revved the engine to 3000 rpm for a slow count of 10. I then turned the AC on and drove two miles home and let the car idle in the driveway (AC still on). I was gonna let it sit for the specified 15 minutes, but the windows in the house were open and I didn't want the fumes coming in, so with the car running, I plugged in my code reader - green light! No more flashing ev icon. The evap monitor had run.
The above procedure could explain why the evap monitor had not run previously - I had filled the tank shortly after clearing the codes. And, after having driven ~140 miles the previous two days, this morning the tank was just at the 3/4 mark. I cannot be certain that these conditions will work everytime, but I thought I would document them for the next poor schmuck who needs to pass a smog test and has just cleared his codes.

Your best bet would be to let your car sit overnight with about 1/2 tank of gas. From a cold start plan to drive for about 45 minutes including both city and highway driving. after you complete your drive let the engine idle in gear for a minute or two before you turn the engine off. Driving in this fashion should reset most if not all of the monitors necessary to pass your smog test. If you ask, the smog check tech may check the monitor status before the test to see if they are complete.

T-Mobile/HTC Touch Pro 2 now $49.99 (was FREE) with new activation
-
1.Get the Touch Pro 2 added as a third line for 9.99 to ur family plan.
2.Convert one of your existing lines which is NOT under contract to a prepaid. They give u a 5 dollar starter balance on that. It takes about 2-4 hours for them to convert the line to a prepaid.
3. Call in and ask them to PORT-IN your prepaid number to your new Touch Pro 2 line. It takes about 4 hours for the port-in to complete as this is just an internal port for T-Mobile.
OR
Call 611 from your NEW line (New being the keyword)
Tell them you want to "MSISDN REUSE" (pronounced 'mizzdin') your old OOC number to the new number (MSISDN = Mobile Station International Subscriber Directory Number)
They will understand what you want when you tell them about "MSISDN REUSE"
Your old number will be disconnected immediately (Cancel the line), they will do it.
The new number will get a message stating your number has been changed to the old number.

For all who just purchased of thinking about it, I would highly recommend

I just called the business line and pressed 4 for order processing and returns. I think it transferred me to the general returns department anyway. I was told in order to get the credit back, I needed to be within the 20 day remorse period (which I was). Success for me! Good luck to the rest of you who are trying to get the price match
