o, does news that China has its own document format threaten prospects for the OpenDocument Format (ODF)?
one of the common problems of a developing nation are being addressed by China - the ability to afford it's own products and create it's own without having to pay the developed nations to do so.
Now is not a good time for MS in the OS and Office markets. They still have a monopoly, but it's breaking down at every corner
The world is a big place. Surviving in it will mean going along with it. The fact that UOF will be harmonized with ODF (per what Updegrove has learned) means that if Microsoft or any other vendor wants to participate more frictionlessly in the Chinese mar
All the plotting and planning here in the US was for absolutely nothing. ODF wins.
