    1. google management vs. aol management

    2. google culture vs. aol culture

    3. google is an innovation company. what kind of company was AOL? umm.. boatloads of dial-up modems in racks? content? copycat poor software? AIM, good, but boy did they blow it on that product.

    4. google is using it's revenue and share to expand quickly into other areas behind a central strategy (cloud computing) -- what was AOLs plan? keep people on dial-up in their walled garden forever? releases like gmail and picasa are extensions of google missions, plain and simple.



    i don't like twitter, i love it - but it's one teeny voice in the crowd. yes, it breaks news stories, but does that mean it will become a dominant play? geocities and AOL had huge share, look at them now. no monetization capabilities, poor strategy, culture, and talent is a death sentence.
