As always, I tend to look at the recommended changes for higher ed as a means to shift what we think about K-12. Not always the best way to think, but this article brings up some salient points about collaboration and change within departments.

  • Unfortunately this mass-production university model has led to separation where there ought to be collaboration and to ever-increasing specialization.
    • I think the same can be said for high schools and K-12. We see ourselves often as solely a content specialist in one area, whereas I wonder what would happen if we looked at ourselves through the lens the author uses later in the article when he talks about how he would restructure universities. - on 2009-04-30
