  • The Builder Concept
    Home 2010 exhibits the best of custom publishing, lead
    generation and virtual events. The Home showcases compelling
    rich media, 3D animations and a gorgeous user experience
    with video integrated seamlessly throughout the virtual home
    tour. As users tour the home they are met with product
    information as well as videos with topics ranging from Green
    Building to the Construction Market to specific features of
    the house itself.
  • In just over one month, the program has 11,259 registered
    users, topping the registration goal of 10,000 qualified
    leads in 6 months. The number of leads gathered using Accela
    Works and Google Analytics exceeded the expectations of all
    twenty-seven sponsors of the project and more than tripled
    the leads gathered in previous years.

A lot of people have been dissing virtual worlds lately, but that hasn't stopped the inflow of investment. TechCrunch surveys the scene and says that $345 million have been invested in new virtual properties this year - a record. The blog has a list of who's getting funded and with how much. There are also links to a few of the players.

Carl's Jr. and Hardee's restaurants will turn their social networking pages into virtual outposts. Myspace members will be able to download a branded application and create custom avatars that live in the virtual outlets or a burger-themed living room complete with mechanical bull.

  • Starwood Hotels plans to open its new prototype, The Aloft, in 2008, and has built a virtual version in Second Life to get members' feedback on its design and features. It has sponsored concerts there to bring in visitors, most recently featuring Ben Folds, formerly the lead singer of the now-defunct Ben Folds Five.
