The bomb squad has responded to two geocaches recently, one in November and one Tuesday, after citizens reported the containers and those searching for them as suspicious. Both cost the city about $1,000 in personnel costs, Winter said.
Police and fire officials met Friday morning with geocachers including Tim Stone of Conway to work out a compromise. The plan, as it stands now, involves the fire department creating an account at www.geocaching.com set up to display cache locations within the city limits.
Geocachers also agreed to use clear plastic containers to minimize confusion.

The event, starting 10 a.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday at the Ski Museum in Vail, is raising money for Denver-based nonprofit Judi’s House, which serves youth who have lost a sibling or parent and are dealing with grief. One program of Judi’s House, called Heroic Journeys, takes these teens onto a special Outward Bound Program as a large group.
