Steve Hargadon: Blowing the Doors off NECC 2009
as part of our regular Classroom 2.0 LIVE show, we're going to talk about blowing the doors off of the regular conference experience, both for those physically attending and for those who can only participate remotely. (April 11, 2009)
Help make EduBloggerCon09 fantastic: Join the live conversation Saturday! » Moving at the Speed of Creativity-Wes Fryer
How can we, as a community, make EduBloggerCon09 the best and most valuable learning experience it can be for all participants? Let’s put our heads together on this one. I’m sure we can create a great event at this year’s NECC! (Saturday, April 11, 2009) to discuss issues and ideas surrounding EduBloggerCon09 and the “BarCamp” model in Classroom 2.0 LIVE
EduBloggerCon09 and the BarCamp model | ISTE’s NECC09 Blog-Wes Fryer
This year, in 2009, we’re looking ahead to EduBloggerCon09. As a community event, I view it as our responsibility to help make it an even bigger success than it’s been in the past. It’s easy to sit by the sidelines and complain. It’s much more challenging to roll up your sleeves, work with others, and figure out how to make something even better. And then deliver. That is what I’d say is our challenge this year for EduBloggerCon09.
education2020
The main aim of this wiki is to create and encourage a dialogue around what education should look like in the year 2020. We firmly believe that this wiki should be centred around debate, discussion, sharing of ideas, and exchanging viewpoints - the more diverse and controversial, the better!
Considering the speed at which society is changing (both culturally and technologically), what should the system look like / feel like in that year?
What is your vision of education in 2020? No matter what you do or where you come from, we would love it if you got involved.
8 Tips on How to Run Your Own UnConference
"An unconference is a facilitated, participant-driven conference centered around a theme or purpose. The term "unconference" has been applied, or self-applied, to a wide range of gatherings that try to avoid one or more aspects of a conventional conference, such as high fees and sponsored presentations" - Wikipedia
Classroom 2.0 LIVE Workshops - Home-New Site
Our Classroom 2.0 LIVE Workshops are two-day hands-on workshops that focus on the use of Web 2.0 in education. The are intended to be much like the Web itself: free, open, engaging, participative, and highly collaborative.
The workshops are also designed to be highly practical, and beginners are especially invited and encouraged to attend--in fact, if you are a beginner, you are the reason we are holding these workshops! We promise you will have a lot of fun as you learn about these important technologies. Each workshop is a blend of presentations, facilitated discussions, and hands-on creation--with lots of time for "drilling down" by getting individual help and instruction.

Pecha Kucha Night
Each presenter is allowed 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds each – giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. This keeps presentations concise, the interest level up, and gives more people the chance to show.
Generation YES Blog » Blog Archive » Conferences must change with the times
Excellent blog post by Sylvia Martinez describing the "unconference" process created by Steve Hargadon. Instead of submitting session ideas months in advance, and a faceless committee deciding which sessions are presented, the attendees shaped the day to our own needs. A wiki was used to plan the event. People signed up, and added their ideas to another page for ideas about what to talk about.
At the event, the first item on the agenda was to decide what the day would become. Imagine that, the attendees shaped their own day of learning to their personal needs!
edubloggercon » San Antonio 2008 Session Offers
his is a list of possible sessions that you can add to, either because you'd like a session on the topic, or because you feel comfortable facilitating such a discussion. The sessions are intended to be group dialogs on a topic, and not formal presentations. You can add yourself as a potential facilitator to any topic.
At the start of EduBloggerCon "West" (the actual day) we'll take a vote on all sessions and determine which sessions to put in the formal schedule. (You can vote as many times as you like!) If there is a session that you are interested in but doesn't get included in the formal schedule, you are encouraged to seek the volunteer facilitator out during the ample "break and breakout" times. You can even schedule your own meeting at any time during the day if you have folks who want to do that--remember, this is an "unconference!"
