Around the Corner-MGuhlin.org: Bootable Leopard OS X Flash Drive
I thought I'd document the process, so....the hard part is booting off a DVD and installing the system to your 8gig (or greater) flash drive. It takes a long time. Once that is done, use CarbonCopyCloner (it's free) to make an image of the USB flash drive that you can use as a source.
Around the Corner-MGuhlin.org: Create a Bootable Mac OS X Flash Drive
If you have an Intel Mac, want to optimize your hard drive (or something else), don't reach for one of those CDs in your "utility belt." Instead, make yourself a Mac OS X bootable USB Flash drive with your favorite utilities loaded on it!

Around the Corner-MGuhlin.org: 30 Free System Tools for a Better Mac
Miguel's blog post about article on 30 free system tools for a better Mac. Here are some that jumped out at me, as well as some of the ones I use on a regular basis. But I honestly had not encountered all of the ones on the list. I will be installing these free apps on the Macs I'm responsible for!
One omission that I would add as a free system tool is Carbon Copy Cloner. I've gotten pretty familiar with this app over the last few weeks and think it's great at making easy backups of your entire hard drive."

Around the Corner-MGuhlin.org: Moodle Habitudes - Constructing Online Learning Environments
Online learning is critical to our future, both for adults and children in K-12. I'd like to see a series of courses that go beyond how to design online learning--although that is certainly essential--to how to best manage resources to facilitate and enable online learning. As an administrator growing his own program, what planning do I need to put in place to ensure success for learners in K-12 environment?

So, here are the 4 workshops I'm doing: Learning the Moodle Mambo - Constructing Online Learning Environments for K-12 Learners, Wiki While You Work, Podcast Panopoly, Moodle Habitudes (Unconference Session)
and the fifth is Interactive Learning Tools."

Around the Corner-MGuhlin.org: Web 2.0 Process-"free" online services don't stay free for long
Blog post re Gcast moving to annual fee for service. What's the lesson? Well, it's that if you want these kinds of services, isn't it better to adapt free open source software tools so that you can host them yourself in your district rather than run out to "free, let's hook them first with our services" simply because we want to avoid the learning conversations that have to take place?

Around the Corner-MGuhlin.org: Who Switched the Tags?
s the reader, my main take-away was that each of us has "switched" the price tags on our lives and priorities. We spend our lives figuring out what is REALLY of value, and what is not.
The story comes to mind when I consider Steve Dembo's post on tag generators. Scott points out that we can use web traffic as a way to help us know if writing has value to intended audiences.
