【記者吳政修／台南縣報導】台南縣長蘇煥智昨天獲悉總爺國小學生與家長到教育部下跪，直說「小孩子很單純，家長這樣操弄很不好」；他還說，家長在全縣夾報反對併校，「不知道那來這麼多錢？」
蘇煥智表示，縣府六年前就討論過併校案，當時總爺國小僅八十名學生，且距離文正國小不到三百公尺，兩校爭搶學生，關係變得很差，後來總爺經過校長、老師的努力，及總爺藝文中心越來越多人使用，總爺國小學生數增加，才沒有合併。
蘇煥智說，最近台南藝術大學希望縣府提供土地做為校區，也有意設藝術推廣部，他認為若縣府與南藝大合作成功，翁倩玉歷史館落腳總爺藝文中心的條件就更成熟，均有利地方文化產業發展。
