Kids' Science Challenge: Fun Educational National Competition!
Forensic Science - Detection; 4' video of background on the Brownie Caper, link to other components, including the game to investigate the evidence and rule out suspects from a lineup.
Forensic Science | Let Evidence Reveal The Truth
"Forensic science has shaped the world of justice, fuelling crime investigations and signifying the progress of modern technology. Forensic science of today covers :
* Modern computer/clay facial reconstruction;
* DNA fingerprinting;
* Autopsy techniques;
* Forensic anthropology;
* Toxicology and much more.
What more reliable method is there to prove innocent or guilty other than through science?"
Each section contains smaller subsections you will be able to access for further information.
Glogster – Poster Yourself | Text, Images, Music and Video
Glogster™ is a Web 2.0 tool that allows users to create Glogs, which are interactive posters, about any topic they desire. These Glogs can be public or private and may be sent to a user’s profile at any major social network (e.g., Facebook™ or My Space™), embedded in a webpage or shared via e-mail. Teachers who are interested in integrating Glogster into their curricula will be pleased to learn that Glogster has recently created a space especially for schools. edu.glogster.com allows teachers to sign up for 200 student accounts. Student user names and passwords will be sent to the teacher to distribute. The advantage of Glogster.com/edu over Glogster is that once a virtual classroom is established, students will only be able to see the Glogs created within their teacher’s group. Additionally, they can only communicate with the members of the established school group. Glogster plans to add functionality to both sites in the near future, including the ability to embed to wiki pages, multi-editing to allow groups to work on one common Glog, and "master-account[s] for teachers which will allow them to edit student accounts and Glogs" (Glogster.com/edu).
This technology lends itself to differentiated writing instruction for students who require adaptations. Consider using Glogster for ELL students and struggling writers to gauge their grasp of reading assignments or as extension activities for advanced students. As an added bonus, Glogster allows students (and teachers) to meet technology standards by allowing them to create and work with multiple media formats.
Triptico | LinkUp Resource
Students link words to classification categories. Interactive whiteboard activity for improving learning and perhaps even reading skills.
Bringing Interactivity to Your Interactive Whiteboard (Teaching & Learning)
Resource list of sites, including interactive science, curriculum bits, great animations & simulations, physics toolkit, and NOAA resources.
Microsoft WorldWide Telescope Web Client
This is an amazing site that involves data storage on the hard drive for telescopic data (don't know if that's from your own studies or from a supernetworked computer like the radiotelescope for aliens).
Be sure to start with the interaction tours
DNA - The Double Helix
An interactive game from the Nobel Foundation about DNA. Other games (like integrated circuit) were well thought out. Haven't tried this one yet.
scienceLiteracy
Key-Words for Science
A series of word games designed to reinforce the key-words used in Key Stage 3 Science. The program selects a randonm key-word within the topic and pupils have to guess the letters present. The guessed letters can be entered via the on-screen keyboard. Each time a wrong letter is entered a 'life' is lost. A list of the key-words used can be downloaded from the link below.
Hang-man or Wheel of Fortune-like activity making a game out of associating words with concepts. Has sets for all of KS3 vocabulary.
investigationPlanner
A useful visual prompt/aid for investigation. Key variables are selected along with the dependant variable. Basic modeling allows positive and negative correlations to be selected to allow a prediction to be decided upon. The key variable is selected and the tables and graph set up is automatically determined.
Interactive scientific investigation planner. Includes possible variables and their units, contolled variables, prediction and rationale for it, dependent variables.
graphPlotter
Interactive simulation of graphing scatter plots. Enter labels for X & Y axis and units, then plot points by moving cross hatches to graph. Can reset points, red, and blue lines. Can also change scale of axes.
Feezeray.com
FANTASTIC! "This site offers a growing bank of imaginative, highly visual teaching-aids developed for use with interactive whiteboards in 11-18 Schools.
The resources are designed to be used as rich sources of visually stimulating material, making use of both animations and drag and drop interactivity. The appropriate Key Stage is indicated for each resource.
It is hoped that the resources will help students to make sense of some of the more challenging concepts they encounter.
Many of the resources can be used to support starter or plenary activities.

Gravity and the inverse-squared rule
Simulation with orbiting space shuttle or satellite whose orbital distance can be changed and resulting force vectors are shown. Because of scale, not the BEST example of the law, but good.
waves
Interactive simulation of two waves, one longitudinal and one transverse. Can set frequency and amplitude to see changes in wave action.
relay
physical science simulation that involves a battery-run circuit with an electromagnet used to multiply the amount of electricity used to run an engine.
moonphase
Great interactive simulation of the phases of the moon as seen from the Earth's surface. Very good job of naming phases and integrating phases with both earth and sun roles
seriesParallel
Interactive simulation of both series and parallel circuits. Asks user to predict which will have brightest light.
electricBell
Simulation of an electrical circuit that rings a doorbell. Contains an electromagnet that attracts ringer to bell. Great interactive for ActivInspire
voltageCurrent
Shows how the current in a simple circuit depends on the voltage. Different voltages can be selected on the power supply and the voltage and current can be read off the meters.
physics
a great site for interactive physical science stuff;
