Twitter chats are such a great way to stay connected and informed in your professional circle, and education is no exception. Through education chats, you can find out about new methods for teaching, tech resources, even jobs for teachers. Most chats are held weekly, and offer an opportunity to have a regularly scheduled conversation with like-minded educators.

First, add a new contact on your iPhone. Make the first name Twitter, the phone number 404-04 (Twitter’s SMS shortcode), and save the contact.

Next, send a text message to that number containing only the word start. You’ll get a reply with instructions on how to log into Twitter via text message. Once you finish texting your login credentials to Twitter, you can send tweets at any time by texting them to that number.

You’ve seen them and you’ve probably used them. On Twitter, they are usually cryptic codes that appear in messages following the # sign. Hashtags allow you to follow a conversation stream. You just search for that hashtag and watch the results come in! The value is that you are not limited to messages from just folks that you follow. You get the messages that anyone on the system has sent using that hashtag.
