  • First, add a new contact on your iPhone. Make the first name Twitter, the phone number 404-04 (Twitter’s SMS shortcode), and save the contact.
  • Next, send a text message to that number containing only the word start. You’ll get a reply with instructions on how to log into Twitter via text message. Once you finish texting your login credentials to Twitter, you can send tweets at any time by texting them to that number.

Your Twitter account is a wealth of information that you can analyze for really deep details.  It’s not really digging past privacy; the date is wide open and freely available.  There are a large number of services available to do the trick and I’ve been playing around with a new service lately called SocialBro.

Keep that status update to yourself.
That's the advice teachers are being given as the education system grapples with the expanding use of social media by students.
Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation has been conducting workshops with high school teachers in Algoma in recent months after the Ontario College of Teachers issued an advisory that teachers should keep their distance from students when it comes to Facebook, Twitter and other electronic communication.

You’ve seen them and you’ve probably used them. On Twitter, they are usually cryptic codes that appear in messages following the # sign. Hashtags allow you to follow a conversation stream. You just search for that hashtag and watch the results come in! The value is that you are not limited to messages from just folks that you follow. You get the messages that anyone on the system has sent using that hashtag.
