Macsimum News - ‘Computerworld’: Macs not more expensive than PCs for most part
If you start with Apple’s relatively short list of SKUs (three or four model variations for each of its lines, such as MacBook Pro, MacBook and iMac) and then look for comparable Windows machines, you’ll find that Apple bests the competition in some ways and not in others, but the pricing overall is surprisingly on par,” Scot Finnie writes. “Only a few years ago, it seemed like a no-brainer that Windows hardware was much cheaper. But if you’re talking name-brand hardware, that’s just no longer the case.”
Apples with Apples - are Macs really worth it? - 09 Mar 2009 - Mac Planet - NZ Herald Blog
If I 'build' it on the site to be similar to the iMac (ironically, I couldn't do this on the Dell US site using Safari) I added in the anti-virus software (as, ahem, you know Macs don't need virus software still), some software that might do a few of the iLife things (like Adobe Elements in place of iPhoto) etcetera, and I also added in a wireless router c
Scot Finnie on Mac vs. PC pricing
Feature for feature, if you match up Apple's constrained model selections with mainstream/premium vendors like Dell or Sony, the MacBook Pro and iMac come out ahead on pricing.

Apple Classrooms of Tomorrow
ACOT2 has identified six design principles for the 21st century high school:
MacDailyNews - Apple could buy Dell outright; Mac-maker has more cash on hand than Dell is worth
On October 6, 1997, in response to the question of what he'd do if he was in charge of Apple Computer, Dell founder and CEO Michael Dell stood before a crowd of several thousand IT executives and answered flippantly, "What would I do? I'd shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders."
A little more than a month later, on November 10, 1997, new Apple Interim CEO (iCEO) Steve Jobs responded, speaking in front of an image of Michael Dell's bulls-eye covered face, "We're coming after you; you're in our sights."
Apple's $20 Billion Cash
The solution to many of Apple's potential problems, the public relations disaster of indentured Chinese laborers, the threat of a disrupted delivery supply line*, and the ability of Apple to make inexpensive consumer electronics, reminiscent of Sony's heyday, well into the future is, you guessed, it, to build their own completely automated, computerized plant that can assemble these products without a human hand ever touching them. Such a plant, run by robots and Macs, would be expensive to build. In the long run, however, the economic and political advantages of such a plant would be enormous. Apple would stop sending money to China and suffering from continuing scrutiny over labor conditions in a foreign country. The plant would become a poster child for modern, 21st century manufacturing. Imagine Steve Jobs taking the next president of the United States on a tour of a plant that makes its own electricity, cleans its own water and cranks out millions of iPods and iPhones each month. And sends power back into the grid on occasion to power our plug-in hybrids.

Apple Human Interface Guidelines: Introduction to Apple Human Interface Guidelines
These guidelines are designed to assist you in developing products that provide Mac OS X users with a consistent visual and behavioral experience across applications and the operating system. Following the guidelines is to your advantage because:
*
-
Users will learn your application faster if the interface looks and behaves like applications they’re already familiar with.
Users can accomplish their tasks quickly, because well-designed applications don’t get in the user’s way.
Users with special needs will find your product more accessible.
Your application will have the same modern, elegant appearance as other Mac OS X applications.
Your application will be easier to document, because an intuitive interface and standard behaviors don’t require as much explanation.
Customer support calls will be reduced (for the reasons cited above).
Your application will be easier to localize, because Apple has worked through many localization issues in the Aqua design process.
Media reviews of your product will be more positive; reviewers easily target software that doesn’t look or behave the way “true” Macintosh applications do.
These guidelines are designed to assist you in developing products that provide Mac OS X users with a consistent visual and behavioral experience across applications and the operating system. Following the guidelines is to your advantage because:
The implementation of Apple’s human interface principles make the Macintosh what it is: intuitive, friendly, elegant, and powerful.
