Journey mapping evaluation tool

Evaluating the AYCD Practicum was a priority from the start of the program. On the recommendation of Michael Heathfield of the Chicago Area Project, we investigated a Web-based evaluation tool called Journey Mapping. Journey Mapping is an online tool developed by Barry Kibel, author of "Success Stories as Hard Data: An Introduction to Results Mapping." Results Mapping is an innovative approach for assessing the worth of hard-to-evaluate social, health, and education programs. Completion of the evaluation tool at the end of each semester is a requirement for participating AYCD students and Practicum Mentors. The Web-based Journey Mapping tool surveys and solicits narratives from students and Practicum Mentors.

An aspect of Outcome Engineering that is used for strategic planning, continuing quality improvement, and performance monitoring, Journey Mapping tracks and gauges progress of individuals, groups, and systems on their respective quests for growth (Blanchard, Kibel, Roper & Reed, 2000).
