Schumpert receives degree May 17
Jeannie Lee Schumpert of Spartanburg was one of 78 graduates to receive the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree May 17, from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine - Georgia Campus in ceremonies at Gwinnett Center in nearby Duluth. Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degrees are the first awarded since the college's branch campus opened in 2005.
Schumpert is the daughter of Angela Schumpert Troxell of Spartanburg and the late Gene Schumpert.
She received her undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of South Carolina.
Schumpert has accepted an internal medicine residency position at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and will begin her graduate medical education as a captain in the U.S. Army.
