Bloodrop es una aplicación gratuita que una vez instalada y colocada en el dock nos devuelve una URL del archivo que arrastremos hasta su icono. Por ejemplo, hacemos una captura de una página, si queremos que otro contacto acceda a ella basta con arrastrar la imagen al icono de Bloodrop y ya está, lo que tendremos en el portapapeles será la dirección web de ese archivo que podremos pegar en un correo electrónico o en las redes sociales.

Para poder ajustar la aplicación solo deberemos abrirla la primera vez e introducir el número ID de nuestra cuenta de Dropbox. Podemos encontrarlo fácilmente compartiendo un archivo del modo tradicional en la web de Dropbox, es el número que aparece detrás de la cadena http://dl.dropbox.com/u/. Además se nos solicitará que especifiquemos la carpeta pública en la que queremos colocar esos archivos arrastrados.

Gracias a esta aplicación podremos fácil y rápidamente añadir a la carpeta Dropbox cualquier carpeta de nuestro disco duro sin tener que modificar la ubicación de esta. Una vez instalado el programa, tan sólo tenemos que arrastrar la carpeta al icono de MacDropAny.

La aplicación se abrirá y nos preguntará la ubicación dentro de la carpeta de Dropbox dónde queremos colocar la copia de la carpeta. Lo que en realidad hace este programa es un enlace simbólico a la carpeta original. A diferencia de un “Alias”, esta especie de acceso directo puede ser borrado sin que la carpeta original sea eliminada. Además, toda modificación que hagamos dentro de la carpeta quedará reflejada también en la original. De esta forma tenemos la misma carpeta en Dropbox y su ubicación original sin duplicar espacio en nuestro disco duro.

Calepin is a simple app that lets you use your Dropbox account to store blog posts and publish them online with a single click. Once you sign up for a Calepin account and link your Dropbox account to it, all you need to do is store your blog posts in plain text under a specific folder.

Then whenever you have a new post or have made changes to existing posts, click the Publish button on your Calepin account and all the posts will be published. Each post needs to include the date and title in a specific format but that’s all that’s needed. Since your blog posts are hosted by Dropbox, you can access them from anywhere.

Safebox is a tool that helps makes your Dropbox files harder to hack. This is accomplished by encrypting your files with a Safebox-generated key or a key that you provide. Your files are uploaded to a new Safebox folder in your Dropbox account and only people who have the encryption key will be able to view the contents of your files. This way your files remain secure. Safebox works as a desktop app for Mac and Windows and comes with a price tag of $0.99.

Pancake.io is a web service that extends public sharing files in Dropbox. It allows you to upload and share links to files that you upload. You can link to each file individually, make changes to any file and embed a list of links to each file. Details after the break.

The web service is free and supports a few select file formats in its infancy stage. The service doesn’t just link to the files, it allows you to view them without having to download them to your hard drive. To get started, sign up for an account, and connect your Dropbox to the service. It adds a Pancake.io folder inside the App folder, and all files that you want to upload, link to and create a list for, should be uploaded to this folder from Dropbox. The service itself is not used to upload files; you will need to use either the web interface or the desktop app for Dropbox. All files that you upload are listed on the Files tab.

It enables grabbing screenshots of the whole desktop, current window and widgets (specific area of a window), as well as from the webcam (Windows only).
