Sony’s New eBook Software Takes Aim at Kindle
Earlier this week, Sony announced that it will be bringing out a new eBook Reader that will offer built in 3G wireless and the ability to buy books on-demand — just like the Amazon Kindle. Today, Sony has released its eBook Library Software 3.0 for both Windows and Mac users.
The software — which will finally let Mac users interface with Sony’s devices — allows users to browse and purchase books online. This is pretty standard stuff, and apart from Mac compatibility (finally), no different than what Amazon already offers with the Kindle.
The big difference with Sony’s approach is that users can now read eBooks on their Mac or PC. Amazon won’t even let you buy a Kindle book unless you have a Kindle device attached to your account or you have an iPhone or iPod touch set as a registered device. Furthermore, you can only read the books on the portable devices themselves.

I guess I got very used to working for the man and the perks that come with it. I have had Adobe Professional on my desktop and laptop for a long time now. When I had to create a quick PDF from a word document on a client’s site - after my laptop suffered from battery drainage I had some issues.
I quickly Googled around looking for a free, easy solution. Lots of places claimed to do what I wanted but the first one that did it EASY and FREE was doPDF.

SpaceSniffer is a freeWare (or, better, donationWare) and portable tool application that gives you an idea of how folders and files are structured on your disks. By using a Treemap visualization layout, you have immediate perception of where big folders and files are situated on your devices. Treemap concept was invented by Prof. Ben Shneiderman, who kindly permitted the use of his concept into this tool.
Start a scan process and see the overall situation. Bigger are the elements on the view, bigger are folders and files on your disk. You need more detail on a big folder? Just single click on it. The selected element will be detailed with its content.
Need more and more detail? Keep selecting elements and they'll discover their secrets to you. Need a larger view of a small folder? Then double click on it, and it'll zoom to the full extent of the view.
If you need to understand why no more free space is left on the media, keep following bigger elements. Maybe you want to focus only on particular file types... ok. Just type the file type on the filter field (example: *.jpg) and press enter. The view will react and show you only JPEG files.
