Google Wave Guide: User Manual Released for Wave
"Confused about how to use Google Wave, the new Google product that combines messaging, wiki-like features and group collaboration into a single app? You’re not alone.
To clear up the confusion, we recently published Google Wave: A Complete Guide, a feature-length article that explains Wave in plain English.
Now Gina Trapani and Adam Pash have gone a step further, releasing The Complete Guide to Google Wave. The book, which is available for free online, details all of Wave’s features – and some use cases – in 8 chapters. It’s a super-handy reference if you’re still stuck on how to get the most out of Wave. Recommended!"
Google Now Offers Over a Million Free Ebooks in EPUB Format
Have you noticed that Sony launched its best ebook reader a couple of days ago, with an AT&T 3G modem for fast wireless connection? Not by accident, Google (Google) has now announced they’re offering over a million public domain books in EPUB format – the exact format compatible with Sony’s Daily Edition reader.
To download a book, search for a title over at Google Books. Public domain titles will have a download link in the upper right corner. Which brings us to the first major difference between the Kindle and this Google-Sony open book strategy: while Amazon only offers 300,000 titles, Google’s million books aren’t, for the most part, the most attractive ones, and Sony’s own ebook library doesn’t offer a choice as good as Amazon – at least when it comes to modern titles.

Fotopedia: An Online Encyclopedia for Photos - mashable.com
When we think of online photo sharing, we typically think of sites like Flickr and Picasa where photos are hosted and organized by users. Though these sites definitely serve a purpose in helping us host and share our photos, they don’t do a great job at collectively organizing and displaying photos by content type or subject matter.
Fotopedia, a photo encyclopedia site that launches to the public today, hopes to become the Wikipedia for photos by centralizing the photo experience around user-created topics and subject matters. The sleek web interface is coupled with a desktop application for a community experience on site or off.
Google vs. Bing: The Blind Taste Test
Since Microsoft opened up its new search engine Bing earlier this month, there has been a nonstop flood of people comparing Bing to the current search juggernaut, Google. Does Bing have a better interface? Is it an improvement over Microsoft’s Live search? And most importantly, does Bing provide better results than Google?
Google Street View Gets Usable With Smart Navigation
Google’s street-level mapping imagery – called Street View – can at times be useful if you want to see what a place you’re trying to find looks like. However, if you’ve ever wanted to explore beyond a snapshot of a location, you’ve likely found the user experience fairly cumbersome, if not downright unusable at times.
Today, the Google Maps team has unveiled a new feature that makes actually navigating through Street View significantly better. Now, Maps will show you, “an oval when your mouse is following a road and a rectangle when moving across the facades of buildings.” Google refers to these shapes as “pancakes,” and once you figure out how exactly they work, they turn Street View into a fairly enjoyable – if not highly useful – experience.
Bing Opens Up. Is It Good? It's Too Early To Tell.
Bing, Microsoft's latest effort to beat Google at what it does best - search - is now live for everyone. It's bearing the ubiquitous "beta" tag, and contrary to what many expected from Microsoft, the search is decent. But it's also strangely familiar. Is it decent enough to compete with Google? Read on.
