The float property is a valuable and powerful asset to any web designer/developer working with HTML and CSS. Tragically, it can also cause frustration and confusion if you don’t fully understand how it works. Also, in the past, it’s been linked to some pretty nasty browser bugs so it's normal to get nervous about using the float property in your CSS rule sets. Let’s calm those nerves and ease that frustration. I’ll show you exactly what the float property does to your elements and how incredibly useful it can be once you master it.
This is AWESOME!! So funny, and so true!!
Facebook doesn’t cause drug abuse; drug abuse makes people turn to Facebook.
Here’s the evidence: People on drugs do things that are eerily similar to popular Facebook activities. Clearly, social networking just gives various tweakers, stoners and trippers a venue for their drug-fueled antics.
Unconvinced? Check out this list of various recreational drugs and the way they make you act like a hard-core Facebooker...

I only recently noticed anyone capitalizing it - I never do - like they say, why would you? I thought the capitalization made the article where I noticed it look dated and quaint, like "The Internet" was this new thing you may not have heard of - ha.

Good points about the impermanence of the web. Don't ever completely trust "the cloud"!
Too distracted to finish reading this...
"...our inability and refusal to contend with the underlying biases of the programs and networks we all use is less a threat to our military or economic superiority than to our experience and autonomy as people."
A kind of weird article - overstates the case by quite a bit, I'd say, but still makes a valid point about learning programming. Also explains why most hackers seem to come from Russia - ha.

Add Sticky NoteDigital tools are not like rakes, steam engines, or even automobiles that we can drive with little understanding of how they work.

Maggie Wolfe Riley on 2010-10-03Not sure I agree with this. Tools are tools. We need to know how to use them safely, though, whether it is a car or the internet.

Add Sticky NoteThese tools are not mere extensions of the will of some individual or group, but entities that have the ability to think and operate other components in the neural network--namely, us.

This is the most awesome thing ever!! I like to READ my webpages - and some designs make that harder, not easier. With the Readability bookmarklet in all my browsers, a great online reading experience, minus flashing, animated ads, distracting content, poor backgrounds, tiny font size, etc is a click away. As a bonus, it creates a great print style sheet so I don't need to waste time trimming pages to print properly, if needed. Highly recommended!!
This should be required reading for everyone who uses the web. Some people *cough*rightwingnutjobs*cough* seem to have broken crap detectors. (in fairness, people on the fringes of all sides need a healthy dose of crap detection, but the far right has been, um, ~distinguishing itself~ *ahem* lately in that area.
