Susquehanna County, PA: Gas driller found in violation for 'polluting' ground water
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has found Cabot Oil and Gas Corp. to be in violation of applicable laws in allowing groundwater, including a number of residential wells, to become contaminated with methane. Cabot has been ordered to provide water to residents and to supply homeowners with methane detectors, but has yet to comply. The DEP began investigating in the wake of an explosion. One resident commented: "You just don't drink water that explodes."
