Scary stuff - how some are trying to re-write our history as it is taught to our children.

  • In July, the National Endowment for the Humanities sponsored a workshop on  “History and Commemoration: The Legacies of the Pacific War in WWII” for college  professors in Hawaii. Professor Penelope Blake, a veteran professor of  Humanities at Rock Valley College in Rockford, Ill., was one of 25 American  scholars chosen to attend the workshop, but was reportedly disheartened to find  the conference “driven by an overt political bias and a blatant anti-American  agenda.”

  • Professor Blake is now reportedly calling on Congress to implement better  oversight over the NEH.  In a letter addressed directly to her Illinois  congressman, Rep. Don Manzullo, Blake documents conference details and asks him  to vote against NEH funding for future events. According to PowerLine, copies of the letter have also been delivered to  members of the NEH council and NEH chair Jim Leach.

The dogs are turning on themselves - Michael Moore to President Obama

current events liberals

  • Do you really want to be the new "war president"? If you go to West Point tomorrow night (Tuesday, 8pm) and announce that you are increasing, rather than withdrawing, the troops in Afghanistan, you are the new war president. Pure and simple. And with that you will do the worst possible thing you could do -- destroy the hopes and dreams so many millions have placed in you. With just one speech tomorrow night you will turn a multitude of young people who were the backbone of your campaign into disillusioned cynics. You will teach them what they've always heard is true -- that all politicians are alike. I simply can't believe you're about to do what they say you are going to do. Please say it isn't so.

Ginsberg outs herself as a partisan and a eugenics supporter in this surprising NYT piece.

  • I can’t say that it was just that she was a woman. There are some people in Congress who would criticize severely anyone President Obama nominated. They’ll seize on any handle.
  • Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of.

This is a leftist blog that I can actually respect, even if I don't agree with it. Check out her commentary on Sarah Palin! Actually fair and balanced - something usually associated with right wing blogs! This might be a new one for the blog roll!

This has certainly been my experience on liberal forums and blogs, and even a bit in real life verbal discussions.

  • When challenged, liberals often strike back emotionally, with name calling, character assassinations and discrediting anyone that disagrees with them because their feelings and self esteem are hurt when someone tries to prove that their opinion is faulty. Liberals often think that those who challenge their ideas are attacking them personally and they become combative. They would much rather discuss topics with like minded people who validate their opinions, rather than those who would challenge them. Liberal views are generally based on their own self esteem. They espouse opinions that make them feel good about themselves. This is why good intentions often out-way unintended consequences. Liberals are easily duped into supporting those who articulate positions that make them feel better about themselves. Tough love is wasted on liberals. Liberals often dismiss the cold hard truth as mean spirited.
