WASHINGTON – Health care legislation before Congress would allow a new government-sponsored insurance plan to cover abortions, a decision that would affect millions of women and recast federal policy on the divisive issue.

WASHINGTON — Providence Bishop Thomas J. Tobin has forbidden Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy to receive the Roman Catholic sacrament of Holy Communion because of his advocacy of abortion rights, the Rhode Island Democrat said Friday.
Republican Leader John Boehner | Speaker Pelosi’s Government-Run Health Plan Will Require a Monthly Abortion Premium
The current health care bill in the house does require public money for elective abortion. Here are the links!
-
Health care reform should not be used as an opportunity to use federal
funds to pay for elective abortions. Health reform should be an
opportunity to protect human life - not end it.
Unfortunately, Speaker Pelosi’s 2,032-page government
takeover of health care does just that. On line 17, p. 110, section 222 under “Abortions for which Public Funding is
Allowed” the Health and Human Services Secretary is given the authority to
determine when abortion is allowed under the government-run plan.
The Speaker’s plan also requires that at least one insurance plan offered
in the Exchange covers abortions.
What is even more alarming is that a monthly abortion premium will be
charged of all enrollees in the government-run plan. It’s right
there on line 16, page 96, section 213, under “Insurance Rating Rules.” The
premium will be paid into a U.S. Treasury account - and these federal
funds will be used to pay for the abortion services.
Section 213 describes the process in which the Health Benefits
Commissioner is to assess the monthly premiums that will be used to pay
for elective abortions under the government-run plan. The
Commissioner must charge at a minimum $1 per enrollee per month.
Abortionist Reflects on Dismembering One Baby While Feeling Her Own Flutter in Her Womb
-
"There was a leg and foot in my forceps, and a 'thump, thump' in my abdomen. Instantly, tears were streaming from my eyes." So writes abortionist Lisa Harris in a disturbing article relating her experiences as an abortionist, particularly her anguished and "brutally visceral" experience of dismembering an 18 week gestation unborn child, while 18 weeks pregnant herself.
-
Harris says that there is a need to "cross borders and boundaries (including seemingly inflexible ones like 'pro-choice' and 'pro-life')" in order to "reflect seriously on the question of how providers determine their limit for abortion," and warned that the issues surrounding the question "may frankly be too dangerous for pro-choice movements to acknowledge."
Harris then describes how she once performed an abortion on a woman whose fetus was at 18 weeks gestation. Ironically, Harris herself was pregnant at the time, and her baby was also at 18 weeks gestation.

Nonpartisan FactCheck Web Site: Obama Wrong, Abortion Funding in Health Care
Current house bill does allow public funding of abortion.
-
Washington,
DC (LifeNews.com) -- A nonpartisan web site that routinely serves
as a watchdog for public officials, the media and political groups
says President Barack Obama has it wrong. FactCheck.org says the current
health care plans pending in Congress do authorize abortion funding,
contrary to Obama's claims otherwise.
"Despite
what Obama said, the House bill would allow abortions to be covered
by a federal plan and by federally subsidized private plan,"
the web site concludes.
At
issue are concerns from pro-life groups that the government-run health
care plans would include abortion funding and coverage. Obama has
said they don't and gone as far as accusing pro-life groups of lying
about the legislation.
The
FactCheck web site, run by staff at the University of Pennsylvania,
says "it's true that House and Senate legislation would allow
a new 'public' insurance plan to cover abortions." The House
bill does so "despite" the addition of the Capps
amendment that pro-abortion lawmakers say prohibits abortion funding.
"Obama
has said in the past that 'reproductive services' would be covered
by his public plan, so it’s likely that any new federal insurance
plan would cover abortion unless Congress expressly prohibits that,"
FactCheck adds.
That
mirrors what National Right to Life and other pro-life groups have
said, with NRLC legislative director Douglas Johnson explaining, "the
bill backed by the White House (H.R. 3200) explicitly authorizes the
government plan to cover all elective abortions."
Itv News | Multiple abortions could increase the chances of a premature birth next time

Gov't insurance would allow coverage for abortion - Yahoo! Asia News
Catholics who voted for Obama anyway might want to take note. The most pro-abortion president in history is also willing to FUND them. More of that hopey changey thing.
-
-
Federal funds for abortions are now restricted to cases involving rape, incest or danger to the health of the mother. Abortion opponents say those restrictions should carry over to any health insurance sold through a new marketplace envisioned under the legislation, an exchange where people would choose private coverage or the public plan.
YouTube serially aborts pro-life videos
Shocking information about Youtube and their removal of abortion videos. I use Youtube daily for news clips, commentary and to keep up with programs I don't have time to watch on t.v. It's disturbing to find out they might be part of the right wing media agenda.

By now you're likely one of 1.5 million people who have seen the graphic video of Neda Soltan dying after being shot in the chest on June 20, 2009, during protests in Iran following the presidential election.
The video shows Neda collapsing into the arms of two men, who try to stop her bleeding with their bare hands. Suddenly, Neda's eyes roll up and to the right, almost as if they are looking at the cell phone video camera chronicling her death. Blood begins pouring from her mouth and nose, into one eye and down her face. Cries erupt from the crowd, and you know Neda is dead.
I don't know how the tragic video of Neda's death is any less graphic than a video by the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform showing the tragic, graphic deaths of children by abortion, but it is according to YouTube, which removed this video.
There's something about showing abortion that sets it apart from all other videos in the Big Brother eyes of YouTube.
YouTube allows almost any surgery video imaginable, like gastric bypass, gallbladder removal, toe amputation, appendectomy and brain tumor removal, and gross-out body parts videos like a buttock fecal fistula or peritoneal cancer – but not abortion.
Obama Surgeon General Pick Regina Benjamin Wanted Docs to Learn Abortions
Ah... so all of your "catholics" that voted for Obama and didn't think he could change the state of abortion in this country one way or another... here you go. Another hopey changing thing that makes it look pretty bad for the unborn.

However,
Benjamin has also urged that future physicians be trained to learn
how to perform abortions.

I will permanently bear the mark of a woman who has lost her child. There are many of us walking here...in the grocery store, at the neighborhood barbeque, at the movies. We walk without necessarily recognizing each other, side by side and a million miles apart. If you are one of these women, I want you to know that as I write these words, I am praying for you. I am mourning what you have lost in this life. I am praying that God will fill you as only He can, and that in time, you (and I) will be with our daughters and our sons again. Know that I hurt with you tonight.

The letter Obama cited in great detail was from an anti-choice doctor who had taken him to task for a statement on his campaign website saying he would fight "right-wing ideologues who want to take away a woman's right to choose." The president was quick to point out that while he had not changed his fundamental position (though he declined to reiterate it), he had instructed his staff to alter the wording, presumably so that "ideologue" no longer appeared.
-
The rest of the speech, insofar as a woman's most fundamental right to control her own body was concerned, was a big fat silence. Leading off with "Maybe we won't agree on abortion, but we can still agree that this is a heart-wrenching decision for any woman to make, with both moral and spiritual dimensions," the president detailed all the ways we can reduce abortions. He mentioned adoption, support for women who choose to carry their pregnancies to term, and crafting a "sensible conscience clause" (whatever that means) for health care providers as well as "health care policies grounded in clear ethics and sound science, as well as respect for the equality of women."

The Notre Dame Response: Don’t Show Up! «
If the President speaks to a half-full crowd, will the news report it?
-
Hundreds of thousands of Catholics, hundreds of priests, and dozens of bishops have called upon Notre Dame to end this scandal by withdrawing its invitation to President Obama. The result of that demand is not in our control. But one final response to this scandal is fully in the control of each graduating senior: don’t show up.

And finally – let every commencement ceremony include a prayer for those who would have graduated had they not been killed by abortion. It’s the least we can do!
FOXNews.com - Supermodel Kathy Ireland Lashes Out Against Pro Choice - Celebrity Gossip | Entertainment News | Arts And Entertainment
It takes a humble person to change their perspective based on the evidence. Kudos to Kathy Ireland for seeing the truth and admitting it.
-
"My entire life I was pro-choice — who was I to tell another woman what she could or couldn’t do with her body? But when I was 18, I became a Christian and I dove into the medical books, I dove into science," Ireland told Tarts while promoting her insightful new book "Real Solutions for Busy Mom: Your Guide to Success and Sanity."
"What I read was astounding and I learned that at the moment of conception a new life comes into being. The complete genetic blueprint is there, the DNA is determined, the blood type is determined, the sex is determined, the unique set of fingerprints that nobody has had or ever will have is already there."

However Ireland admitted that she did everything she could to avoid becoming a believer in pro-life.
"I called Planned Parenthood and begged them to give me their best argument and all they could come up with that it is really just a clump of cells and if you get it early enough it doesn’t even look like a baby. Well, we’re all clumps of cells and the unborn does not look like a baby the same way the baby does not look like a teenager, a teenager does not look like a senior citizen. That unborn baby looks exactly the way human beings are supposed to look at that stage of development. It doesn’t suddenly become a human being at a certain point in time," Ireland argued. "I’ve also asked leading scientists across our country to please show me some shred of evidence that the unborn is not a human being. I didn’t want to be pro-life, but this is not a woman’s rights issue but a human rights issue."
First Things » Blog Archive » Declining Notre Dame: A Letter from Mary Ann Glendon
Mary Ann Glendon declines an award in protest over Notre Dame's blatant disregard for the USCCB guidelines in inviting Barrack Obama to give the commencement address.
-
Last month, when you called to tell me that the commencement speech was to be given by President Obama, I mentioned to you that I would have to rewrite my speech. Over the ensuing weeks, the task that once seemed so delightful has been complicated by a number of factors.
-
First, as a longtime consultant to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, I could not help but be dismayed by the news that Notre Dame also planned to award the president an honorary degree. This, as you must know, was in disregard of the U.S. bishops’ express request of 2004 that Catholic institutions “should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles” and that such persons “should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.” That request, which in no way seeks to control or interfere with an institution’s freedom to invite and engage in serious debate with whomever it wishes, seems to me so reasonable that I am at a loss to understand why a Catholic university should disrespect it.

Glendon Declines ND Honor: National Catholic Register

Father John Jenkins likely thought himself very clever. Professor Mary Ann Glendon just took him to school.
In declining to receive the Laetare Medal alongside President Barack Obama’s honorary doctorate of laws at next month’s commencement, Glendon has refused to participate in the shabby manipulation Father Jenkins attempted to engineer. It is a rare personage who could ennoble an award by refusing to receive it, but Professor Glendon has done just that. The Laetare Medal will now be known best for the year in which it was declined. Glendon chose, to use the apt words of Bishop John D’Arcy in this regard, truth over prestige.
-
The significance of Glendon’s refusal is enormous. The most accomplished Catholic laywoman in America
