Thinking about how this could also populate outside of announcements on a google site through the use of an RSS feed.
Off the top of my head some uses I think would be nice to publish are :
school events
classroom events
homework
sporting events
important dates

Lesson Plans, trainings and more for your classroom. This is a nice entry point for professional development or for your classroom.
I would like to see the ability to crowdsource more lesson plans within this space, wonder if that's possible?

That said, there's really nothing "new" here, just a nice breakdown of how to use the existing "takeout" services google provides via http://dataliberation.org

The new feature in Google Docs is tremendous. The ability to search, filter, and cite sources within a document quickly is a great time saver and is super useful for classrooms and schools.

Nice examples of different models of blended learning. While the latest "Classifying  Blended Learning" changes some of the nomenclature in this visual, I think this gives us a nice starting base to what it can look like, where it is occurring and where we can take it, next.

I like where the author is going here. I get excited when I see some great innovation coming from my school district. Here is an example. Unfortunately though, building these robust and full implementation environments hasn't been done within the public school system. Let's change that.

"Hockey great Wayne Gretzky once said, “I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been.”  However, innovation has rarely come from the state, policy makers or school districts. Rather, It’s up to them to encourage innovative teachers and schools to rethink technology tools and get out of the way. We all need to skate in that direction."

This is a great place to get started when thinking about blended learning.
I also think this is a great summer "reading club" activity idea where a team or school could unpack these and other reading to develop some background info or ideas around what this might look like in their school next fall.

What a tremendous tool for our history teachers to use in the classroom.

"an interface allowing researchers to experience the geography of the Roman world from an ancient perspective. The executive summary: given any two cities in the ancient world, it returns the fastest, cheapest, or shortest route between them, given the month, the mode of transportation, and various other options. It’s Google Maps for the ancient world, complete with the “Avoid Highways” feature."

We’re proud of our first baby step—the Knowledge Graph—which will enable us to make search more intelligent, moving us closer to the "Star Trek computer" that I've always dreamt of building. Enjoy your lifelong journey of discovery, made easier by Google Search, so you can spend less time searching and more time doing what you love.
