OnTerra Bing Maps WMS Service - Beta
This is a beta service is provided by the experts at OnTerra Systems, for evaluation and testing only. It allows you to access Bing Maps base data such as ortho imagery, road data and hybrid layers (road + ortho) in Open Geospatial Consortium (OCG) - Web Mapping Service (WMS) format. This service works in conjunction with any WMS capable application. Currently this beta service supports WMS 1.3.0 and 1.1.1 standards, and primarily using web Mercator projection

recently was working on a very cool requirement where customer wanted to implement virtual earth pins view in a SharePoint web part.
On working for a long time using javascripts and XSL I was finally able to crack the solution.
So, here are some instructions that will hopefully get you up and running quickly.
Assuming that you have a list with Title and Description fields that includes 2 additional fields called "Lat" and "Long", create a web part page in SharePoint Designer and add a Data View of the list containing the locations.

Announcing trueSpace for Virtual Earth 3D Development
As you'll recall, several months ago we acquired Caligari because of their advanced 3D toolset - trueSpace (among other assets). I've always felt sketchy about other 3D freeware, so starting today trueSpace 7.6 is now available for download.....FOR FREE! And, there is a direct connection into Live Search Maps so you can create SUPER high resolution 3D models using trueSpace, then right from the environment upload the model into Live Search Maps as a collection item. Once you've created your collection, you can import your collection into your Virtual Earth application and BAM you have your own custom 3D models in your Virtual Earth application. We'll host the models right in our 3D collections cloud! This is going to be a long post - get some coffee and make it diesel.
