SQL Server 2008 Failover Clustering - Whitepapers
This white paper complements the existing documentation on planning, implementation, and administration of a SQL Server 2008 failover cluster, which can be found in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Books Online. There are links to relevant existing content throughout the paper, which is intended primarily for a technical audience. This white paper covers failover cluster architecture and concepts for Windows Server (2003 and 2008) and SQL Server 2008; installation of a SQL Server 2008 failover cluster; upgrades and updates to SQL Server 2008 failover clustering; and maintenance and administration of SQL Server 2008.
Microsoft SQL Server Community Samples: Integration Services - Home
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Integration Services (SSIS) makes it possible to build high performance data integration solutions, including the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data for data warehousing and as well as Data Transformation Services (DTS) backward compatible support. This latest release of Microsoft Integration Services introduces new features as lookup cache, pipeline parallelism, data profile, ADO. NET and C# support. These new features and enhancements increase the power and productivity of developers, administrators, and knowledge workers who develop data transformation solutions.
This project contains Integration Services samples created by the product team. If you have questions or suggestions about any of these samples or Integration Services, please let us know by posting in the SSIS forum.
Case Study of High Availability for SharePoint Server by Using Virtualized Environments and Database Mirroring
This paper highlights the lessons learned from a proof of concept configuration of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 across two data centers that included database mirroring. The environment runs on Hyper-V, hosted on the 64-bit edition of the Windows Server 2008 Enterprise operating system with Service Pack 1. The mirroring solution that this paper describes is based on the architecture that is described in the following white paper: Using Database Mirroring with Office SharePoint Server and Windows SharePoint Services (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=83725).

THE BI Blog : Top 10 demos for Microsoft BI
Here’s a collection of some cool Microsoft BI Demos that I use regularly to showcase aspects of the Microsoft BI stack and show interesting examples of what insight to information can actually accomplish.
Configuring SharePoint Forms Authentication using SQL Server: ASP Alliance
Earlier versions of SharePoint were primarily designed for internal use, using ADS or Windows to contain user accounts. Based on product upgrades that make SharePoint more desirable to use outside of a companies LAN, or on both sides in various configurations, many managers are stuck deciding if they want to consider the practice of using ADS accounts. By default, SharePoint (WSS 3.0 and MOSS) is configured to use Active Directory accounts or Windows user accounts to allow specific access, where a non-anonymous login is required. The easy argument for using ADS/Windows accounts is that all of the user management tools are at your disposal. But there are at least two possible problems and one misnomer about this. The first problem is that user accounts in ADS or Windows cost money, based on your configuration. It can be said that this is not a problem, based on the licensing methodology used, but there is a second problem that everyone potentially faces… security.

SharePoint Hosting and Development : Upgrading SharePoint SQL Servers to SQL Server 2008.
SQL Server 2008 is now released and is supported by WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007 SP1 and above although we probably won't see a supportability statement anytime soon due to resource constraints with the content folks. I will let you know when the official supportability statement is released.
Case Study of High Availability for SharePoint using Database Mirroring (white paper)
This paper highlights the lessons learned from a test configuration of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 across two data centers that included database mirroring. The mirroring solution this paper describes is based on the architecture described in the following white paper: Using database mirroring (Office SharePoint Server) (white paper).
You can download this white paper as a Microsoft Office Word 2007 document at: Case Study: Creating a Highly Available Microsoft Office SharePoint Server Environment by using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Database Mirroring (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=117905
Using database mirroring (Office SharePoint Server) (white paper)
This downloadable white paper provides information about using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database mirroring to provide increased availability within a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 farm. Database mirroring makes it easier and faster to recover from a failure of a database or a database server.
This paper has been updated to include information about the recommended number of mirroring sessions per server for SharePoint Products and Technologies databases. It also describes how to transfer the SQL Server permissions required by SharePoint Products and Technologies to a mirror server.
Database Tables
The following is a list of database tables used in a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services topology.
SharePoint Hosting and Development : SQL Mirroring Setup Made Easy
In an ongoing effort to simplify mirroring I've decided to post the scripts I use to setup mirroring for myself. There are 9 easy steps to execute. The trick with most of these commands is that they output a script that you will need to copy into the query window and execute on the appropriate server. The scripts assume that the entire SQL server is dedicated to SharePoint and will create a command for every database on the server except for the system databases (Master, Model, MSDB, and Temp... All databases with and ID > 4)
Summing up BI Features in MOSS - Take Two
Back in February I presented a session on BI features in SharePoint, including the out-of-the-box BI features like Excel Services and extended BI features including SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services and PerformancePoint Server 2007. I've uploaded a PDF of my presentation to this post.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to mention our upcoming Microsoft Press book - “Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Best Practices” - http://www.microsoft.com/MSPress/books/12197.aspx which I co-authored along with Bill English and Ben Curry. The book includes two solid chapters around MOSS BI integration and best practices. Here's Bill English's overview of the book:- http://admincompanion.mindsharp.com/BillBlog/default.aspx.
