Usability = Wichtig. Das weiß jeder. Wie man benutzbare Websites baut, ist dann aber schon kein allgemeines Wissen mehr. Viele Webschaffende verlassen sich auch ihre Erfahrung und aufs Bauchgefühl. Ob das reicht, sei dahingestellt. Nötig wäre es nicht, denn es gibt eine Fülle unterstützender Werkzeuge und Services. Die müssen nicht zwangsläufig umständlich oder teuer sein - und helfen dann vielleicht doch.

Es lassen sich im Groben drei Verfahren unterscheiden:

* Dem User werden Aufgaben gestellt, die Ergebnisse werden aufgezeichnet und ausgewertet.
* Man schaut dem Nutzer beim Surfen zu, die Aktionen werden aufgezeichnet und ausgewertet.
* Man sammelt direktes Feedback von den Nutzern ein.

Diese Dienste nutzen entweder das so genannte Crowdsourcing, das heißt die Hilfe der User, oder arbeiten auf Basis einer Software. Das eigene Usability-Labor entfällt. Mit einer Ausnahme sind alle Dienste englischsprachig.

Wireframes can be created in many ways with several tools depending upon one’s communication needs and budget. Most simply, pen and paper are key tools for creating web wireframes. In addition some designers and developers are using Illustrator, Fireworks or PowerPoint to create wireframes.
