Technical diagrams and other supplemental documentation
Many of these resources are poster-sized documents created in Microsoft Office Visio 2007. If you do not have Office Visio installed, you can download a free viewer (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=118761&clcid=0x409). A plotter works best for printing these files.
Models
Models are 34-by-44-inch posters that detail a specific technical area. These models are intended to be used with corresponding articles on TechNet. These models are created using Office Visio 2007. You can modify the Visio files to illustrate how you plan to incorporate Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies in your own environment.

Der „SharePoint Documenter“ hat zur Aufgabe seine SharePoint Infrastruktur zu dokumentieren. Dies bezüglich den installierten Features und den dazugehörenden und verknüpften Site Definitions. Nun das Tool „SharePoint Documenter“ kommt ohne Installation aus und scannt direkt auf dem Filesystems des WSS- oder MOSS-Servers, auf dem man als Administrator angemeldet sein muss, die SharePoint Infrastruktur bezüglich den Installierten Features und Site Definitionen. Dabei spielt es keine Rolle ob ein Sharepoint-Admin oder die Service Accounts dediziert eingerichtet wurden. Da das Tool über das Dateisystem geht und XML-Dateien auswertet. Holger hat diesbezüglich eine Menge Ideen für Erweiterungen, die dann über die MOSS-API abgewickelt werden. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt werden dann wohl rechte und die MOSS-Installationsstrukturen relevant werden.
patterns & practices: Documentation Tools - Home
The patterns & practices: Documentation Tools project includes a Word 2007 template and tools that you can use to convert Word documents to HTML, Help 1.0 (CHM), and Help 2.0 (HxS). It also includes a tool that helps you manage your table of contents for large documentation sets. You can use these tools to create your own documentation guidance or take existing patterns & practices Word documents, modify the content, and then convert the content to your desired output.
The Documentation Tools include three binaries that you can install:
* Content Template. This is a Microsoft Word 2007 add-in and template that provides the p&p Content ribbon bar and pre-defined styles to create and format content.
* Master TOC Tool. This tool allows you to specify one or more Word documents to be converted by the conversion tools.
* Conversion Tool. This tool consists of transforms and Powershell scripts that convert your content (written in the Word template and specified in the Master TOC) to HTML, Help 1.0 (CHM), or Help 2.0 (HxS) format.
