SharePoint 2007 – Inline CSS Styles to Customize Pages « SharePoint Sherpa

I am often asked to customize the layout of a page within a SharePoint site as a “one-off” change (one that affects only that page and not the entire SharePoint site). This is typically a request to hide something on the page or to change the attributes of a font on a page, such as hiding the quick launch bar, hide the breadcrumbs or increasing the font on a header. These changes are often small and don’t necessarily require a change to the site master page or style sheet (.css file). One of my favorite tips is to use “inline CSS styles” to apply style changes to a page.

Hide the “View All Site Content” Quick Launch Link « Microsoft Technology, .Net, BizTalk, Sharepoint & etc.

To hide this link from all but those users with full control over a WSS site, open the site master page in SharePoint Designer and find the SPSecurityTrimmedControl element that contains a div with class ms-quicklaunchheader. The quickest route to this is to view the page in split view, and click on the “View All Site Content” link in the design pane.

HeatherSolomon.com - SharePoint 2007 CSS Reference Chart

The following CSS reference guide highlights the major styles used in MOSS and WSS v3 sites. The guide is organized by area of the page and include the style name, function, CSS file name and approximate line number and a sample screenshot of the style location on the screen. Additionally, there is a "Copy to Clipboard" function that will copy the source code for the style to your client machine's clipboard for use in your own CSS file. Use these guides to identify styles that can be overridden for your custom branding and installation or to quickly reference style name and CSS information for customization.

Emblematiq :: Niceforms :: Overview

Web forms. Everybody knows web forms. Each day we have to fill in some information in a web form, be it a simple login to your webmail application, an online purchase, or signing up for a website. They are the basic, and pretty much the only way of gathering information on the web.

You basically know a web form when you see one as they always look the same and they’ve kept this look over the years. Try as hard as you might but web forms can only change their appearance so much. Some may argue that this is a good usability feature, and I tend to agree, but there comes a time when you just need to style web forms so that they look different. How do you do that? Niceforms comes to the rescue!

Niceforms is a script that will replace the most commonly used form elements with custom designed ones. You can either use the default theme that is provided or you can even develop your own look with minimal effort.
