CodeProject: Howto: (Almost) Everything In Active Directory via C#. Free source code and programming help

This article attempts to tie together the most commonly used elements involved in Active Directory Management in the simplest, most clean manner possible. I interact with Active Directory in nearly all of my applications (web & forms) and I have had to solve a lot of integration issues for many customers. When I was starting out with this technology I had a lot of growing pains so this is an attempt to help those programmers who may have a need to interact with the Directory but do not want to have to become experts in the issue. However, certain rudimentary knowledge and concepts are required in order to utilize the code. You must be familiar with such terms as: distinguishedName, ldap paths, fully qualified domain names, object attributes (single string & multi-string), and general knowledge of ldap schemas.

UK SharePoint Team : SharePoint Profile Properties and their default Active Directory mappings

A couple of weeks ago a question was raised about which profile properties available in SharePoint Profile Database are mapped through to Active Directory and what fields they relate to. After some digging around and not finding a great deal on the subject I thought Iw ould knock together a quick post detailing them.

Display site members from AD Groups « Bits of Sharepoint

I recently have to do this for a client. The web part is suppose to display a list of all users from the Sharepoint Security groups for every site. The out of the box webpart(Site Users) will display only the name of the AD group and not the members within it.

To get started, it is easier if you installed the Webpart templates for VS.NET

Created a solution using webpart template and you are ready to go.

InfoPath Team Blog : Using the Contact Selector Control

Using the Contact Selector Control

We have seen a number of requests on how to allow a user to enter (or select) a person’s name or logon alias and then validate that user against their Active Directory without using code. This has been especially true in workflow scenarios where User A needs to enter in the name of User B – the next person in the workflow process.

Well, InfoPath 2007 ships with a control called Contact Selector Control that will resolve these issues! You may have seen our older article on the subject; this one aims to dive in deeper.

LINQ to Active Directory - Home

LINQ to Active Directory implements a custom LINQ query provider that allows querying objects in Active Directory. Internally, queries are translated into LDAP filters which are sent to the server using the System.DirectoryServices .NET Framework library. LINQ stands for Language Integrated Query and is one of the core features of Microsoft's .NET Framework 3.5 release. More information can be found via the MSDN website on http://msdn.microsoft.com.

Features

* Translates into LDAP filters according to RFC 2254.
* Simple and approachable entity model with support of propagating updates back.
* Supports mappings to both the System.DirectoryServices (.NET) and ActiveDs (COM) APIs.
* Ships with a set of samples.
