Do Bar Tricks - Wired How-To Wiki

  • This is more of a trick to play on someone else and may get you a drink or two. Bet someone they can't balance a full beer with only their thumbs. The trick is to have them only place their thumbs on the edge of the bar. Now you take a full beer and balance it on their two thumbs. When they succeed, say "Well, guess you can" and walk away. They will spend a few minutes or more trying to get the beer off their thumbs.

Gallery2:Developer Guidelines - Gallery Codex

    • All Gallery developers should use the following PHP settings in their development environment:

      • display_errors is actively suppressed in G2. It's very important that you enable display_errors during development, else you might miss uninitialized / undefined variables or constants! In config.php, change
      • And ensure your php.ini settings are:

       error_reporting = E_ALL
      short_open_tag = Off
      magic_quotes_gpc = On
      allow_call_time_pass_reference = Off
      register_globals = Off
      display_errors = On
      allow_url_fopen = Off
      include_path = '/bogus'

      Note: Pay special attention to the warnings on the lib/tools/phpunit/index.php page. It will show if any of the above settings are wrong.

How to Photograph Silhouettes in 8 Easy Steps

  • Usually the best backgrounds will be a bright cloudless sky with the sun setting
  • If there is more than one shape or object in the image that you’re attempting to silhouette, try to keep them separated. ie if you are silhouetting a tree and a person don’t have the person stand in front of the tree or even leaning on it as it will merge them into one shape and as a result your viewers could be confused about what the shape is.

    Also when framing you’ll probably want to photograph silhouetted people as profiles rather than looking straight on. This means that more of their features (nose, mouth, eyes) are outlined and they are more likely to be recognized.

Photography Tip: Keep Your Elbows In to Reduce Camera Shake

  • As often as possible pull your elbows in to your body and exhale completely before depressing the shutter. When you're working with a wide aperture or low shutter speed (or both), even a breath can introduce shake. Pulling your elbows tight to your body can really help keep you steady. I also press my elbows firmly into my chest for even greater stability.

Hussman Fitness - The Plan: Why the Body for Life Program Works

  • What if I want more muscle growth? Emphasize higher weight/lower rep sets
    (mostly in the 6-10 range, occasionally in the 2-4 range, but never without a warmup set
    of about 12 reps first).
  • if you're
    doing extra, moderate cardio within a few hours of a weight session, it is generally
    better to do the weight training first. Cardio depletes muscle glycogen and results
    in earlier muscle fatigue, which makes the weight training less effective.
