Previously, I stressed the importance and the benefits of using a CMS in the classroom. This post contains quick tutorial about one aspect of a CMS geared toward K-12 classrooms--SchoolEffects--works. SchoolEffects classroom sites are organized into simple, easy-to-use panels that you can move around simply by clicking and dragging. Creating a content- and Web 2.0-rich site is quick and easy. We’ve created some short tutorial videos to show you how easy SchoolEffects is to use. This episode explains how to embed a video into your classroom site.

As we integrate technology into our teaching and learning environment, we must focus on the learning experiences on the student and less on the use of productivity software. The following lists use common software in ways that are creative and integrate into the curriculum learning objectives. As one becomes proficient in the use of a particular software, it become easier to develop creative ways to use it with students. Most school districts have a set of expectations of student proficiency in basic programs. It is extremely important that students use the computer as a tool to communicate information that is authentic, directly related to what their learning, and connected to real life as they learn and develop their own skill in software programs.
