Overview\nChances are that your students are all watching and enjoying YouTube in their spare time. Take advantage of their interest-and practice important critical thinking and literacy skills-by having them make and edit their own videos that deal with important social, economic, and political topics. After viewing examples of online public service announcements (PSAs), students probe the multiple meanings of these video texts by asking challenging, open-ended questions. They use their responses and a Persuasion Map tool to write scripts for their own PSAs. Students then create short video clips and use Windows Movie Maker to edit their videos.
