Worldmapper is a collection of some 600 world maps, that uses cartograms to offer comparative data around themes such Age of Death, Income etc. Each of the the countries are re-sized on each map according to the particular variable that is being mapped. Though some of the maps are quite tricky to work with at first after you get used to it, the cartograms are a great visualization. Each of the maps also has an associated pdf file.

Breathing Earth is a real-time simulation that purports to display the CO2 emissions of every country in the world, alongside birth and death data. The simulation tracks on a map where in the world these vents are likley to be taking place. Really interesting stuff.

Although the CO2 emission, birth rate and death rate data used in Breathing Earth comes from reputable sources, data that measures things on such a massive scale can never be 100% accurate.
