Part of a larger Marvel Comic site with games and other promotional material, this page lets you create relatively simple comic strips using characters from the Marvel comics. A little like a cut down version of Comic Life it is a reasonable introductory tool. Finished comics can be printed or downloaded as a pdf.

Educause has done it again with another in their great "7 Things" pdf monograms this time turning their attention to VoiceThread. As usual they illustrate the application via a scenario before concisely looking at the upsides and drawbacks of the application as well as implications for teaching and learning. A really good read.
Stupeflix - Video creation made easy
Stupeflix is another one of those online apps/spaces that enable you to create slideshows using images from online or your camera to which you can add a soundtrack. The big difference with this one is that you can actually download the “movie” to your own computer either as an mp4 or flash file. You can also select to group images so that they have the same transition. This also enables you to add soundtracks specific to each group. The only downside is that there is no direct embed code, instead you have to upload the movie to a thrid party site such as TeacherTube and then use this code to embed it as below.
Tikatok - Imagine a Story. Create a Book.
Tikatok is a free creative community for kids under 13 where they can write, illustrate, and share their original stories, and have them printed out into real hardcover and paperback books. It was developed by two mothers to encourage the imagination and creativity of their children and children everywhere.

Maureen Tumenas is assembling an ever expanding collection of movies of er class and others working especially with science. These are great examples of how video can be used on a number of levels. The videos are a great reminder for the students in Maureen's class, they enable parents to be involved in what is happening in the classroom, they can be used as a stimulus for other students and teachers can review them as a means of professional learning.
