War Grave and Memorial Photographs supplied by The War Graves Photographic Project
"The aim of The War Graves Photographic Project is to photograph every war grave, individual memorial, MoD grave, and family memorial of serving military personnel from WWI to the present day and make these available within a searchable database.
Now working as a joint venture with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, this will enable families, scholars and researchers to obtain, via the CWGC or TWGPP websites, a copy of the photograph of a grave or memorial which for many is impossible to visit due to the location."

Flickr: London Cemeteries
London has the pleasure of being host to the \'Magnificent Seven\' Victorian Cemeteries. They were sprawling, landscaped areas designed for the Victorians to meander around and view the dead.
This pool is not only dedicated to the Magnificent Seven (listed below) but to other cemeteries also that had \'delusions of grandeur\' and ached to be part of that group.
The history of London [WorldCat.org]
Walter Besant was a novelist and historian, and his topographical and historical writings, ranging from prehistoric times to the nineteenth century, were probably best known through the detailed 10-volume Survey of London published after his death. This earlier single volume covers, in less depth, the whole period from prehistory until the 19th century. The book appears originally to have been written for boys, and, indeed, the chapters are called "Lessons". However, it is a very readable history and provides a fascinating insight into both London's past and the government of the City at the time the book was written (1894).
