MT Chat: Question for Andrews grads
-
I have been working 9-1/2 months now
-
The first 6 months of the job were exhausting, exhilerating, fulfilling, nerve-wracking, and exciting. They went by faster than any 6 months of my life. The only day I worked more than 8 hours to reach my expected line count was the very first day at 9 hours and 20 minutes. Most companies give you a certain amount of time to work up to the required daily line count, so you won't likely be hit with the full amount on the first day. The minimum daily line requirement varies from company to company. My line count varies each day, depending on which accounts I work on and which dictators I get, but I have had no problem reaching and exceeding the expected amount. On most days, I work 4 hours on a multispecialty clinic account and 4 hours on an acute care account. I personally love the variety that gives me.

MT Chat: Career Step Students/Grads
MT CHat: Career Step Students/Grads
discussion on comparison between CS education and Andrews/Mtec education
-
This is the honest truth. I spoke up about my bad experience with Career Step on their forum and I was immediately banned.
-
I went to CS.
I passed the final after 4 attempts (they only allow 3), I guess I was "special".
I got a job and have been working for 2 years now. I feel that I have learned more in my job than I ever did in the course, however, I didn't put much effort into the course when I first started.
CS doesn't hold your hand while you do the course. It is self-paced and you have to put in the effort and rely on the message board for MT guidance. If you want step-by-step guidance, then M-Tec or Andrews would better suit your needs. - 11 more annotations...

The second box indicates that if you pay the loan off early you will not receive
a refund for interest that you paid in the previous years. You will not
owe any future interest, but will not be refunded any interest from the previous years.

I think, and this is only my opinion, the practice dictations cover a wide range of skill levels. Simply put, some are easier and some are much harder. The tests seem to fall in the middle of the range. Thus, some practice dictations are harder than the tests.

Session 1
-
There is a "Student Assignment Submission Checklist" that I have printed off that lists exactly what needs to be turned in for each session. It's really a great checklist to keep.
-
If you go to
Students/Grads > Universal Information > Time Line
and then click on Time Line for Students, it will take you to a .pdf file that shows a suggested time line by week for the entire course. The assignments to be turned in are printed in red. Looks like the next assignment to turn in isn't until the end of Session 2.

1) Make sure you memorize each word part/definition before you move on to the next chapter. 2) Purchase a soundcard as soon as you can if you are missing those small words, boy did that make a big difference to me. 4) Earphones, invest in good ones. Along with the soundcard, it is amazing how suddenly you can hear those little words. 4) OneNote – what a lifesaver! I did all my work on OneNote and it was very handy on the Skill Assessment Tests. The way I had set up my notebooks, etc., I could find the word I was looking for with a “search all notebooks,” the textbook and even chapter. It made it easier to verify answers. 5) Medical Teasers - do them, you will be surprised how much you will learn, and it will help immensely with your researching skills. 6) Virtual Class - although I did not attend many of them, I do go into the Class Notes and go through them anyway.

WAHM.com Forum: AutoCorrect
Auto Correct thread from WAHM , very helpful

how to print the auto correct list. Found this at Allen Wyatt's Word Tips, after my computer crashed.(I hope it's okay to post it this way, if not, please feel free to delete or edit as you see fit).
Sub PrintAutoCorrect()
Dim a As AutoCorrectEntry
Selection.ParagraphFormat.TabStops.ClearAll
Selection.ParagraphFormat.TabStops.Add Position:=72, _
Alignment:=wdAlignTabLeft, Leader:=wdTabLeaderSpaces
For Each a In Application.AutoCorrect.Entries
Selection.TypeText a.Name & vbTab & a.Value & " " & vbCr
Next
End Sub
Before running this macro, make sure that you start with a new document. The macro sets the tab stop in the current paragraph, and then "types" each AutoCorrect entry in the system. When it is through running (it is very fast), you can print the list and then discard the document
You can copy and backup the .acl and .dot as auto correct is stored on .acl. Should your computer crash, if you have the AC backup, it can be copied and used on another computer. Perfrom a search on your computer for *.acl and *.dot, copy and back them up.

Backing Up Your AutoCorrect Entries
-
AutoCorrect information that is shared between Office applications is stored in files with the ACL extension. If you want to make a copy of your shared AutoCorrect information, all you need to do is use Find File to locate files with this extension and copy them to a floppy or some other storage device.
-
These AutoCorrect entries are stored in templates, typically Normal.dot. According to some reports they can also be stored in other templates as well. If you want to make copies of this AutoCorrect information, simply make copies of any file with the DOT extension.
