Here's part II of this article where Mr. Dunn lays out 10 tips for winning online. These are great tips and you must listen.
Why We Need To Regulate Big Google
Great take on the current net neutrality legislation question. It's TOUGH to be "against net neutrality". Does that language just feel good? What an amazing job of positioning the role of the government. Now, I am still digesting brilliant opinions on ALL sides of this very vexing issue...but this post gives a simple example of what one might be "against neutrality" or rather "Against the radical government intervention in what's right and wrong on the web". We shall see.
Paul strives to engage young people | desmoinesregister.com | The Des Moines Register
Ron Paul uber Libertarian and "Dr. No" in the Congress understands the power of the under 35 crowd. It will be the undoing of candidates who continue to ignore it.
Matt Dunn: Winning Online: 10 Tips for 2010 Campaigns
This is a great piece on what candidates should do with tech in their campaigns. We struggle to convince candidates every day that tech is not something that we just "add on" to the "real stuff". It's a first step for us and should be treated as such.
The Greatest Generation (of Networkers) - WSJ.com
This article states the very interesting current status of today's younger workers and up and comers. It's not good enough to sit around and complain that you can't "reach this voting block" and disregard it. Imagine if someone said that about you...you 50+ year old! It won't be long before the youngest generations are the majority of the voting block. When they decide to engage (BHO), it's pretty much their game. Learn don't shut down. Engage...don't shout. Enjoy what this generation brings to the table as it's obviously very different than what even we (me) Gen X'ers brought not so long ago.

Social Media is Slowly Changing the Demographics of Political Engagement
Interesting summary of the Pew piece. I'm printing and digesting as we speak. How many Facebook Friends or Twitter followers have YOU had in the 18-29 demographic who are "most likely to use social networks as a venue for political and civic engagement than older users?" Thanks @abrudtkuhl for the spot.
New version of Google Reader continues Google’s data fetish » VentureBeat
OK....we talk about "Listening" as a key element in the equation that builds YOUR organic online findability all the time and google reader is a great tool to that end. Now, google has added more data/analysis/trending information to the reader. Useful? You'll have to decide that. I'm a data guy and I'm not using the full power yet. When our course on "Listening" comes out in a couple weeks, you know Reader will be a BIG part of that.
VideoPress - Video Blogging Gets Easy with Wordpress Video Press - ReelSEO
Wow. Wordpress.com just got a lot cooler! Let's see how quickly the amount of text based posts drop and video based posts accelerate. I'm not sure it will be earth shattering early on because many people are still intimidated by the "camera". We shall see. Very good development!
How to Sync Facebook Events with Google Calendar
I've been missing a few events lately myself, so I did a little research and figured out how to automatically sync my facebook events with my google calendar (my scheduling lifeblood!). Our team uses google calendar for EVERYTHING and it's a snap to learn. So use this great blog post to set up this feature yourself!

Candidates utilize Facebook, blogs in a new political era | newsleader.com | The News Leader
This is a great and balanced article that describes how many more races are leveraging technology, building email lists, and raising money online. Another key point is that technology is being used to rally support/troops for policy issues. Great article.
Is Social Networking Revolutionizing Our Tribal Behavior? - FP Posted
We talk about people wanting to belong to tribes frequently in our work. Social media/New Media tools have a way of allowing people to create many small tribes...while still connecting them via a common online thread. Very powerful and something you need to grasp as a candidate.
Northwest Herald | Social networking craze doesn’t spare area’s legislators
I bet there are 500 articles like this each month from local newspapers across the nation. "Lawmakers using more social media tools to communicate". That's a VERY good thing. When we take the communication medium back...and open a direct link between those elected to serve and those who elect them, we have more representation.
New Tool Adds Twitter Search To Google
Cool stuff here. Twitter search results within google. I'm pretty happy with some of the other search/subscribe tools out there...but I could see using this regularly for ad hoc searching. As we all know, Twitter is a great tool for building community, branding, and extending the conversation...in business or in a political campaign.
