Jose Antonio Vargas: Technology + Transparency = New Politics
Reading more and more of Jose's stuff on Huffpost. Excellent perspective that MUST be listened to. No matter our politics...we agree on the tech/politics intersection. Here's a quote.
"Because of the one-way nature of television, leaders have been trained to talk down to their constituents. But because of the two-way street that is the Internet, politicians must learn how to listen and engage the very people they're accountable for. Many pols have adapted, at least in the superficial sense. They blog. They create YouTube channels and Facebook fan pages. They drop Twitter in almost every other paragraph to sound and seem like they "get it.""
Jose Antonio Vargas: OBAMA ONLINE -- Using Technology, It's the Electorate That Has Changed, Too

Northwest Herald | Social networking craze doesn’t spare area’s legislators
I bet there are 500 articles like this each month from local newspapers across the nation. "Lawmakers using more social media tools to communicate". That's a VERY good thing. When we take the communication medium back...and open a direct link between those elected to serve and those who elect them, we have more representation.
Facebook Reaches 200 Million Users - eMarketer
If you still believe that you don't have time to leverage Facebook, you should reconsider.
Make a Facebook Page, Event, or Group Badge at rmd Studio Blog
Have you been wondering how to create a badge to promote your FaceBook Group? Most of the social media "sidebar widgets" allow ONLY for your personal profile or page to be displayed. PageBadge solves this problem. I walked right through and completed my page badge in about 2 minutes. Excellent use of my time!
