SafeState: Internet Safety for Children
Our vision is a California whose communities and leaders understand the benefits of crime prevention. We search for the most effective practices to address the underlying causes of violence, and assist law enforcement and communities throughout California to create a violence-free state.
The Crime and Violence Prevention Center functions as part of the Attorney General's Criminal Law Division. We pursue our vision of a crime and violence-free California through many means. Our programs are directed at children, families, schools, law enforcement, local government and communities. We co-administer grant programs for school community prevention strategies.
"As of October 15, 2008, the Crime and Violence Prevention Center within the California Attorney General's Office is unfortunately no longer in operation. The Legislature voted to eliminate the Center from the state's 2008/09 budget. As a result, the Center has closed its doors. The information on this web site will remain intact for awhile; however, it may not contain updated material, statistics or source documentation. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. In closing, we greatly appreciate your support over the past several years and encourage you to continue your important work to help keep your children, families, schools and communities safe from crime and violence."
