  of building that home, and even though it may have been forced upon
  him by pressure from his Bank or by family circumstances."

  work carried out by or on behalf of the appellant comprised a taxable
  activity for the purposes of s 8 of the Goods and Services
  Tax Act 1985. The respondent supports the Authority's decision in
  that respect and submits that the decision may also be upheld on a ground
  rejected by the Authority, viz, that the words "inclusive of Goods
  & Service Tax" after the price in the agreement for sale and
  purchase are sufficient to make the appellant liable.

  the question of whether the subdivision was a taxable activity.
  
  A person who,
  in a continuous sequence, subdivides a series of blocks of land with
  a view to the ultimate sale of sections would be carrying on the taxable
  activity of subdividing land because of the continuous series of subdivisions.
  A person who owns a block of land and subdivides it into two with the
  intention of selling one of the sections is not carrying on the taxable
  activity of subdivision in the same sense as is the person in the first
  example. A typical subdivision, however, whether one-off or one of a
  series, is not a single act but a process or series of acts which, when
  carried to completion, results in the subdivision of the land enabling
  the lots created to be dealt with separately.
