Treating Olecranon (Elbow) Bursitis

The bursa is sac-like tissue typically located at major joints (knee, elbow, shoulder, etc…) between bone, muscle, tendons and skin. This particular tissue helps to decrease rubbing, friction and irritation between other tissues of the body, resulting in more fluid movement. The bursa located in the elbow, also referred to as the Subcutaneous Olecranon Bursa, provides cushioning for the joint and is located just below the skin.

Caring for Your Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS)

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is an injury that occurs in the hand and wrist area that afflicts the Median nerve (a nerve that runs from the forearm into the hand). This nerve runs through the carpal tunnel which is a space in the wrist surrounded by a series of small bones (also known as the Metacarpals). These bones create several joints allowing free movement of the wrist and have a rigid ligament that links them together (also referred to as the Transverse Carpal ligament). Nine tendons (known as the Flexor tendons) also run through the carpal tunnel. When the Median nerve is pinched or compressed at the wrist, this may happen in any number of ways, the resulting injury is referred to as CTS. Interestingly enough CTS is similar to Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome (TTS) which occurs in the ankle.
