Pas très encourageant, on va avoir des problèmes si nos extensions se mettent à pouvoir être piratées, surtout si on leur a donné le droit de se connecter à nos données sensibles. C'est la porte ouverte aux abus effectivement. Comment s'assurer qu'une extension est sécure et n'est pas la porte ouverte à un piratage de nos données, même involontairement ?

This is the big question. You know my answer, in the future we'll not need anymore files, because everything will be manager online (produced and consumed online). I'm living with this all day, the only files I'm managing are those received from external people. Myself I'm not producing anymore files, everything is produced on a SaaS service (mind maps, docs, spreadsheets, accounting, billing, timesheet, bug tracking, development tracking, sales pipeline, CRM, task management, etc...)

En guise de conclusion, l’analyste du Gartner propose quelques règles simples aux entreprises qui réfléchissent à la mise en place d’un nouveau système de messagerie et considèrent une solution en mode cloud :
- Une entreprise qui considère Gmail comme une solution possible doit vérifier que le mode cloud est adapté à ses besoins et à ses contraintes techniques ;
- La solution Gmail doit être intégrée à une stratégie collaborative et non conçu comme un produit stand alone ;
- Aujourd’hui, toute entreprise qui lance un projet de rénovation de son système de messagerie vers le cloud doit évidemment évaluer Gmail ;
- une communication soutenue, un effort au niveau de la formation et du support sont des éléments indispensables pour réussir la mise en œuvre de la solution et l’adoption des utilisateurs.

A far more significant feature is that Chrome 14 now supports C and C++ applications in Google’s Native Client SDK (software developer kit). Native client lets developers create local applications that run locally within Chrome.

Put Native Client applications together with Google’s support for HTML5 local data storage for its applications and it’s clear than ever that Google wants Chrome to be just not your browser, but your operating system as well. At this time, there are only a handful of Native Client applications and those are only available via the Chrome Web Store, but I see big things coming here.

INteresting point of view. Partially wrong in my opinion about the end of Google, because resources developed by Google are much more than basic "search", and partially true about the importance of the app market for the consumers over the web. But this gives good arguments to think deeply about the future.. Of course Google is creating the same ecosystem than Apple, in a more open way, so the future will not be so radical, and we'll see who will be the winner. If there is one...
