Novelties - Lines and Bubbles and Bars, Oh My! New Ways to Sift Data - NYTimes.com

A NY Times article about the "Many Eyes" visualization tool. Talks about another dimension of group collaboration to visually analyze data with the transformative potential to gain new insights about the data. \n\nMuch more than Excel charts and graphs, the "Many Eyes" web site allows for uploading data sets -- including textual material -- to visualize data gleaned from those sets. For example, you might upload text from speeches by Clinton and Obama and visually compare the frequency of certain words used. \n\nSays, Pat Hanrahan, Professor of computer science at Stanford, "When analyzing information, no single person knows it all...When you have a group look at data, you protect against bias. You get more perspectives, and this can lead to more reliable decisions."
