Spring 2009 Course Capture Pilot Results at the University of Delaware
IT-ATS piloted a program of classroom capture in three select rooms in Gore Hall. Those rooms are Gore 103, 104 and 116 (the three large tiered senate-style rooms). High sensitivity microphones were installed on top of the podium that recorded the faculty members voice as well as most student interaction. In addition, any computer plugged into the podium for projection was also recorded synchronously.
Blind Advocates Decry ASU's Use of Kindle DX
Arizona State University discriminates against blind students by providing textbooks through Amazon's Kindle DX electronic reading device, two advocacy groups for the blind claim in Federal Court. The technology is "gratuitously inaccessible to its blind students," the groups say, because the Kindle's operating menus have no audio option.
