PEP Web - The Search for the Father in Amadeus*
"What is the source of creativity? Why are some artists favored with prodigious inborn talent while other artists, no less deserving, remain mediocre? What is the relationship between art and madness? These are age-old questions, and they vexed even Freud (1928), who concluded that “Before the problem of the creative artist analysis must, alas, lay down its arms” (p. 177). Wisely or not, psychoanalysts have refused to lay down their arms: Peter Shaffer's plays, in particular, have aroused intense analytic scrutiny (Berman, 1979; Glenn, 1974a, 1974b, 1974c, 1976, 1983; Hamilton, 1979; Slutzky, 1976; Stamm, 1976). Amadeus focuses on the creativity of two quite different artists, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri."

Inspired by Roku’s awesome Netflix video download box and impressed with Boxee’s free A/V media center platform, it was merely a matter of time before I’d create the BoxeeBox, an Ubuntu-powered HTPC that I call my “one box to rule them all.” Here’s how it’s done.

Linux Powers The Spiderwick Chronicles
-
Hollywood has been the realm of Linux since 1997, when the movie
Titanic proved that Linux can do big computer graphics jobs like rendering
a sinking ocean liner. With an industry tradition of using UNIX-based
operating systems for high-computation jobs, and due to the better, faster,
cheaper nature of Linux, every major effects or animation movie today is
produced using Linux. Visual effects facilities ILM and Tippett Studio each
created visual effects for Spiderwick. Having multiple effects houses work
on the same movie became common after 2003 when The Matrix
Reloaded used a
dozen effects houses.

Mockumentaries
-
Some smug satisfaction can be found in telling another person's story, finding laughs, whether cheap or subtle, at the expense of someone else's efforts and failure. This is what has made modern mockumentaries - faked documentaries - into arguments against art, and against the hubris needed to make works of art.
