Schreibzugriff auf USB-Geräte

    • Haben Sie auf Ihrem PC wertvolle Informationen gespeichert und wollen verhindern, dass diese auf USB-Stick oder Festplatte kopiert werden, so nehmen Sie eine kleine Änderung in der Registry vor:
      1. Mit „Start“, „Ausführen“ und der Eingabe von „Regedit“ öffnen Sie den Registrierungseditor.
      2. Wechseln Sie auf den Schlüssel „HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Current-ControlSet\Control\StorageDevice-Policies“.
      3. Ist der Unterschlüssel „StorageDevice-Policies“ noch nicht vorhanden, legen Sie ihn neu an. In diesem Schlüssel fügen Sie im rechten Wertefenster einen neuen DWORD-Eintrag mit dem Namen „Write-Protect“ und den Wert „1“ ein.
      Um die Änderungen zu übernehmen, starten Sie das System neu. Sie können dann zukünftig zwar noch lesend auf USB-Wechseldatenträger zugreifen, ein Schreibzugriff wird jedoch unterbunden. Wir der Schreibzugriff auf den USB-Stick unterbunden, erscheint eine Fehlermeldung.

      Dieser Tipp funktioniert nur unter Windows XP mit installiertem Service Pack 2.

Download of the Day: FileHamster (Windows) - Lifehacker

  • Windows only: FileHamster makes real-time backups of your files as you work.


    Though designed with artists in mind, the program has applications for anyone who could benefit from having incremental backups of their documents. Any time you save your active document, FileHamster copies it to a specified folder. Subsequent saves are stored incrementally as revisions. You can add comments to each revision so you have a record of the changes (if necessary). The software lets you designate individual files and/or folders to be "watched" for backups. It even supports a handful of plug-ins, including logs, notes and Zip compression.


    FileHamster is easy to configure, and it works quickly and quietly in the background. Even so, you might want to peek at the wiki to get a better idea for how the program operates; the main site is a little vague. FileHamster is free; it requires Windows 2000 or later and .NET 2.0.
