Readability - An Arc90 Lab Experiment
This browser add-in reduces clutter and visual distractions on a page. It enables text readers such as Click Speak (Firefox) to work better. It could also be used to strip iffy ads from websites teachers want to use with students. In addition, Paul Hamilton reports that it also strips clutter from pages you're importing to Kurzweil using the KESI Virtual Printer. Wow!

SET-BC consultant Paul Hamilton's blog on AT resources. Paul finds the latest Web 2.0 apps, tries them out, and reviews them. He provides a screen shot and enough info that you can usually tell which apps are worth further investigating. I've invited Paul to join this group. He's definitely your goto guy if you're looking for a particular app.

SpeEdChange: Toolbelt Theory for Everyone
Great analysis of tools and several great quotes:
he tools they know are gone, chucked to the curb with the card catalogues and 8-track players. The tools which are essential now - the tools which are essential everywhere outside of a school building - are outside of their realm of knowledge. This is why school today is so divorced from any reality.
And on top of this, the tools most schools are devoted to are antiques which serve few functions anywhere outside of school. It is as if you were learning to build homes but were allowed to use only tools invented before 1940. You'd be close to unemployable when you finished that training.
SpeEdChange: CSUN 2008/A Toolbelt for a Lifetime
Ira Socol talks about building student independence by helping them understand which AT tools will help them learn and function better. It's similar to Joy Zabala's SETT framework, but Socol uses the TEST approach (Task, environment, skills, tool)
