Calculation Nation recently unveiled its tenth free online math game. Called neXtu, it starts with a tessellation consisting of hexagons, squares, and triangles, and challenges students to strategically place geometric pieces — or capture their opponent's.
Part of NCTM's Illuminations project, Calculation Nation uses the power of the Web to let students from anywhere in the world challenge each other. At the same time, students challenge themselves by investigating significant mathematical content and practicing fundamental skills at the elementary and middle grades levels.
