"These web pages are under development by Henrico County Public School, VA (HCPS) mathematics teachers. The pages are created, reviewed and revised by teachers. Our goals are to make the pages easy to use, instructionally sound, and to help students understand, learn and remember their mathematics.

Our goal is to create interactive, engaging, web pages that students will want to investigate and explore. Theses pages are different from a printed textbook in that they use java-based scripts, other web sites, software program files and browser plug-ins.

This is a work in progress so you may see sections with some missing information or little information. We thank the teachers in Henrico County Public Schools for contributing their ideas, time, and materials for this site."

This slide show demonstrates some techniques that would be suitable for an experimental geometry project. The basic shapes of square and circle are explored using open source Geogebra and Dr Geo geometry software. The examples includes exercises in geometric construction, novel solutions and recursive (spiral) constructions. This is mathematics that can be done without algebra. There is some algebra on slide 18, to calculate the radius and area of a semicircle inscribed in a square.

Informal Geometry comes to us through MathMastery -- November's Featured Partner. This video-rich content provides students with the concepts and skills necessary for finding the perimeter, area, surface area and volume of common geometric figures; graphing equations on the coordinate system and deriving the equation for the third line from a pair of points; using the Pythagorean Theorem to solve problems involving right triangles; determining if triangles are similar and finding an unknown side in similar triangles; and determining unknown angles in figures by calculating the sum of the interior angles.

Because of their important role in number theory, mathematicians make sustained efforts to discover the properties of the sequence of primes as a whole, and to identify further primes. We have known for over 2000 years that there are infinitely many prime
